But now Grade II listed Leaton Grange near Telford is in need of a new owner for a cool £825,000.

The country home, which was previously a Colonial Training Home for Girls, comes with traditional outbuildings and around three and half acres of gardens and grounds.

Located in the hamlet of Leaton, the property is believed to date back to the 14th century with later additions to the original timber framed house. The house has been remodelled with extensive alterations and extensions being added predominately in the 19th century.

It was the Colonial Training Home for Girls from 1891 to around 1905.

Duncan Foulkes, spokesman for agents Halls, said additional 8.37 acres of pasture land was available separately with a guide price of £100,000.

He said: "It boasts diverse architecture including bold Georgian features and has wonderful garden views."

Leaton Grange is located just two miles from junction seven on the M54, which links to the M6.
