Shropshire's Hawkstone Park Follies open their gates again

Welcome back! Baz Fewster, senior park warden at Hawkstone Park Follies, is looking forward to welcoming visitors as the attraction opens to the public today for its summer season.

The park, near Wem, is known for its woodlands, cliffs, caves and architectural follies. What's probably not so well known are its Monkey Puzzle trees – officially the tallest and widest in Shropshire at just under 100ft.

They feature as part of a new guided walk, called Pinetum Trail, which takes place on Saturdays and Sundays at 11am and 1.30pm, while other visitors can now enjoy visiting the grounds and follies seven days a week for the first time.

Mr Fewster will be one of the guides showing visitors around the grounds and its newest natural work of art - a stripped back tree that took five days to fashion into a real talking point.
