And there was a hint of Hollywood in Harlescott, Shrewsbury, when a red carpet event was held at a high school.

Pupils from The Grange School turned on the glamour for their Hollywood Red Carpet-themed prom night.

The Year 11 pupils, who will be leaving the school at the end of the summer term, arrived in various modes of transport for the event, which is held each year in the school hall.

Hundreds of family and friends cheered as the youngsters arrived in all forms of transport including a horse-drawn carriage and the famous Only Fools and Horses three-wheeler Reliant Regal Supervan III.

Headteacher Rob Hatch said the popular annual event was much enjoyed by all and was held in perfect weather conditions.

"The event has a wonderful community feel about it," he said.

"It is probably the only prom in the area to be held on school premises.

"The hall and school restaurant were decorated brilliantly in keeping with the Red Carpet theme.

"This is all thanks to the tremendous efforts of the staff and PTA who each year help to make prom night a very special event for our Year 11 leavers.

"The pupils looked fantastic – the boys in their suits and ties and the girls in their amazing ball gowns.

"They really had gone to a lot of effort and the various modes of transport never fail to raise a smile."
