Axyz Automation Systems is currently based at Albrighton, near Shifnal, having launched its UK operation in 1996.

This afternoon, an official handover ceremony was taking place that will see the company move on to the growing Telford 54 industrial estate near Junction 4 of the M54. The site allows businesses to build their own premises, and Axyz has moved on to a plot of 0.4 hectares.

It will be a neighbour to another relocating business, oil mist extractor manufacturer Filtermist, which is set to move to the estate from Bridgnorth in the near future.

The site includes a 10,500 sq ft warehouse, 3,606 sq ft offices and a loading dock.

The company, which has its headquarters on the outskirts of Toronto, has had its UK base at Albrighton since 1998.

It makes CNC routers – computer controlled cutting machines.

Mark Sweeney, managing director at Axyz International, said: "We are delighted with the new development taking place and can't wait to set up home at our new UK headquarters in Telford.

"The site is ideal to help us stay connected to our customers in the UK and throughout Europe."

Councillor Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet member for business, added: "I am delighted we've been able to provide a bespoke facility that will work as a main UK base for Axyz Automation and I am delighted to welcome them to the site."

The building was completed by Shrewsbury-based Morris Property.
