Shropshire Fire and Rescue was called to the incident at The Feathers Hotel, Ludlow - described by the New York Times as "the most handsome inn in the world" - at around 6.30pm on Wednesday.

James Powell, duty manager at the hotel, said the person had been trapped for around 10 minutes and "everyone was fine" following the incident.

One Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Ludlow attended the scene and worked to release the individual using what was described as "small gear".
