At around 4.45pm a silver Rover 75 Club Se Tourer was travelling on the A495 towards Llynclys Crossroads.

A police spokesman said: "A Mercedes C Class C300, an orange Vauxhall Corsa, and a maroon Vauxhall were also travelling on the A495 in the opposite direction towards Powys.

"The Silver Rover came into collision with the Mercedes, debris from that collision then collided with the Vauxhall Corsa which then collided with the maroon Vauxhall. The Rover then came off the carriageway and collided with a tree."

The driver of the Rover, an 85-year-old man from Oswestry, was taken to hospital by air ambulance with potentially life threatening injuries.

The other three cars involved were damaged but no injuries were caused.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving of any of the vehicles involved prior to the collision, to come forward by calling 101, quoting incident 484 of June 21, 2015.
