Roads may be widened for wind farm scheme

A number of changes could be brought in on a main road through Mid Wales to allow lorries carrying wind turbine parts to pass through.

The A458 between Welshpool and Llanfair Caereinion could be upgraded, along with other locations, to make the roads wide enough for the lorries to drive through.

They will be carrying parts to the Tirgwynt windfarm, near Carno, which has been given the go-ahead by planners.

Now the developers behind the scheme, which will see 12 turbines built, want to widen the A458, B4385 and C2013 in 12 areas to allow the lorries to pass.

The application will be discussed by Powys County Council's planning committee at a meeting in Welshpool tomorrow.
