Driver airlifted to hospital after Mid Wales crash

A driver has been flown to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Powys.

The A490 between Welshpool and Llanfyllin was closed at about 11.50am yesterday and remains shut.

Katy Simmons, Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman, said: "Police attended the scene of a one vehicle road traffic collision on the A490 at the Llanfyllin junction.

"The incident was reported to police at 11.25am.

"Fire, ambulance and air ambulance were also at the scene.

"The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, is being conveyed to Stoke Hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.

"The road remains closed and diversions are in place."

Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it sent appliances from Welshpool and Llanfyllin to the scene.
