Shropshire Council has been put in charge of maintaining safety around The Mill Hotel in Alveley, near Bridgnorth, while police and the fire service continue their investigations.

Police are still trying to track down three people who were walking near the former hotel two-and-a-half hours before it was gutted by a fire on May 18 at about 2.30am.

Paul McGreary, Shropshire Council director for Public Protection, said: "Public protection and building control officers have been on site to ensure safety of the site and will continue to work closely with colleagues from the police and fire services to help with their investigations."

Police also wish to speak to occupants of vehicles in the Alum Bridge area, between midnight and 5am on Monday, who could also help them with their inquiries.
