Officers from Oswestry first came across the car which had been reported as stolen from the Wrexham area, while on patrol near the Shropshire town in the early hours of this morning.

The squad followed the car through the village of St Martins and across the Welsh border into Overton where officers from the North Wales' force then took over.

Sergeant Lee Johnson from Oswestry said: "The vehicle hit a North Wales Police car to avoid capture before it was abandoned in Overton. No one was hurt, thankfully."

He said that after a lengthy search two people were arrested and put into custody.
