Blair Thomas Preece, 18, had initially denied harassing the woman, but changed his plea to guilty at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court.

Preece, from Sambrook Close, Herongate, Shrewsbury, sent 26 text messages and 13 other missed calls between November 24 and 29 last year.

Mr Mike Phillips, prosecuting, said the couple had split up after 11 months together after Preece repeatedly accused her of seeing someone else.

He said the accusations continued through the messages.

"He accused her off seeing other men repeatedly, demanding that she call him and being angry when she put the phone down," Mr Phillips said.

"He was abusing her using abusive language, and used the 'c' word. He said 'I'm going to rip your head off'. This was interspersed with declarations of love."

Mr Phillips said that Preece had no intention of contacting her.

The case, which had been due to start a trial on Tuesday was adjourned for the weeks for reports to be prepared.

Preece will be sentenced on June 11. He was granted bail with the condition not to contact the woman directly or indirectly.
