The money will come from the £10,000 awarded to the town from the Government-sponsored Portas Pilot aimed at rejuvenating shopping areas in UK towns.

Members of Oswestry Town Council last night agreed to release the money to Oswestry Chamber of Commerce to pay for the bunting for three summers, and will arrange for it to be strung through the town centre.

The bunting is expected to cost almost £1,700 to buy this year, just over £1,800 next year and more than £1,900 in 2017, with additional costs for setting up and removal each year.
