The roar of motorcycle engines isn't what you normally associate with a wedding, but for Alison Hart and Stuart South, it was all part of their special day.

The couple, both from Brookside in Telford, were married at Telford Register Office in Tan Bank, Wellington, on Saturday and arranged for a convoy of 60 bikes to escort them from the wedding to the Wingfield Arms at Montford Bridge, Shrewsbury, for the reception.

Alison and Stuart, are both lifelong biking buffs and they met through a dating website for motorcyclists.

Alison said: "Stuart and I are both keen bikers and have our own bikes.

"We joined the Midlands Riders motorcycle group and found that they like to offer themselves out to do big ride-outs, so we thought it would be great to have them at the wedding."

"We have both been bikers for 30-odd years," added Alison. "The thing that I enjoy most is being part of a group, there's a big social side to it and I just love driving through the country roads."

Stuart added: "We have both been bikers all our lives, we take part in the Bike4Life run from Meole Brace to the RAF Museum at Cosford, and we go to Germany nearly every year."

He said they chose to hold the reception at the Wingfield Arms because it is a popular biking venue that hosts meets.

The couple are planning a motorcycling holiday across France for their honeymoon next month.

Chris Thompson, from Madeley, founded the Midlands Riders in January and said that although they were based in Telford the group attracted members from all across the Midlands.

He said: "We are happy to be here today to support Alison and Stuart on their special day."
