Oswestry area hit by spate of thefts

Thieves have made off with a number of valuable items in a spate of break-ins  in the Oswestry area.

Homes and a pick-up truck have been targeted, and thieves have stolen a potted tree from outside a front door and a bike from outside a hotel, say police.

Jewellery, laptops and car keys were taken from a house in Cabin Lane between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Monday.

Three chainsaws and two cordless drills were stolen from a truck in a car park at a hotel on Shrewsbury Road between 9.15pm on Monday and 6.45am on Tuesday, and a bay tree was stolen from outside a house in Oakhurst Road.

A pedal cycle was taken from outside the Wynnstay Hotel, Church Street, at 1.45pm on Wednesday. The thief was challenged by the owner and the bike was recovered. The offender then walked off on to Church Street and out of view.

In Whittington, a resident returned home to Fitzalan Close at about 5pm on Monday to find jewellery taken. Three men, one in his teens and the others in their mid-20s, were seen leaving the area.
