Youngsters at Lakeside Academy in Grange Avenue, Stirchley, were sent home this morning after the problem was discovered.

The school is due to reopen tomorrow morning as usual.

Telford & Wrekin Council spokesman Nigel Newman said pupils had returned to school as usual after the bank holiday weekend, but had to be sent home after the water supply failed.

Mr Newman said it was believed the problem had been caused by a faulty water pump.
