Rescue operation after Shropshire man, 77, trapped under tractor

Fire crews rescued a 77-year-old man after he became trapped underneath a tractor on a Shropshire farm.

The man was given urgent medical treatment after his leg was pinned by the tractor at Leebotwood, near Church Stretton.

Fire crews from Church Stretton and Wellington, including a rescue tender, were called to help release the man at around 7pm yesterday.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said: "A 77-year-old male who had become trapped below the knee by a tractor, has been released and is now in the care of ambulance personnel."

The man was released by 7.45pm and taken to hospital with leg injuries by land ambulance.
