Amy, 27, has spent this week running the 200 miles from her home town of Oswestry to the capital ahead of meeting up with Blue Peter presenter Lindsey Russell to run the London Marathon.

Despite having problems with her knee at the start of the week, she reached St Albans in Hertfordshire last night and was today running the final 25 miles from St Albans to Trafalgar Square in London.

Yesterday's leg was the shortest of the trip at only 12 miles, allowing her plenty of time to travel – by car – to Bedford for an event with the Kelly Holmes Trust.

Since Sunday she has run an average of a full marathon distance every day, with the longest leg on Wednesday, covering the 37 miles from Northampton to Luton

She was travelling the 25 miles from St Albans to Trafalgar Square early today before dropping in to the O2 Arena to present an award at the Running Awards ceremony – and picking up her own award for "best running moment of the year".

The record-breaking runner, who completed 53 marathons in 53 days last summer, is being supported by boyfriend Dave Keighley and close friend Ella Revell.

Amy on Twitter today:

After arriving in London she is planning to spend Saturday filming for Blue Peter and completing the registration process for the marathon. Then on Sunday she will join thousands of other runners to complete the 26.2-mile course around London. After her record-breaking runs last year she has been invited to take her place on the celebrity start line.

Last year she ran more than 1,300 miles when she completed 53 marathons in 53 days during August and September to raise over £53,000 for the Isabelle Lottie Foundation, which supports children diagnosed with brain tumours and their families. Throughout this week Amy is continuing to raise money for the charity, and will complete her fundraising at the London Marathon.
