Doggie Days get Daniel's support

They say to stay clear of children and animals – but rules go out of the window when there is an election on.

Conservative parliamentary candidate Daniel Kawczynski launched a new animal initiative at a children's nursery in Shrewsbury this week.

Childrensworld Nurseries, which is based in Longden Coleham, has started Doggie Days to allow children to interact with animals and learn how to care for a pet, something many may not have the chance to do at home.

Daniel Kawczynski visited the group and met Ella, a nine-week-old Great Dane puppy. The pup will visit all four of the Childrensworld sites every fortnight.

Paul Smith-Keitley, from Childrensworld, said: "Having a puppy visit the nursery regularly allows the children to interact with animals and learn how to take care of pets. As she gets older Ella will also be able to accompany the children on local walks."

Mr Kawczynski said: "I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Ella and my visit to the nursery.

"Doggie Days is a brilliant initiative and one which I fully support."
