The fire broke out alongside the A458 just west of the village of Foel, between Llanfair Caereinion and Machynlleth on April 10.

Constable Bob Beaman, of Dyfed-Powys Police, said the fire is not believed to be suspicious at this stage, but urged anybody with information to come forward.

He said: "A large hill fire occurred just west of the village of Foel where about 20 acres of common land and trees were burnt.

"Several houses were evacuated as a precautionary measure at the time and the road was closed temporarily. Luckily no property was damaged and the police and fire service was in attendance and remained at the scene throughout the night to monitor and control.
