Affordable homes delight for Telford

More than 80 affordable homes for rent or shared ownership will be built in Telford.

The homes – which will include one-bedroom and two-bedroom houses and bungalows – will be off Park Road and Royal Way in Malinslee.

Officials at Wrekin Housing Trust, which is behind the plan, say the development will help more people to get on the property ladder.

Plans for the project were given the go-ahead last night at a meeting of Telford & Wrekin Council's planning committee.

Permission had already been granted for 93 properties on the site in February but the altered plans approved yesterday removed some of the apartments and replaced them with bungalows.

Objections had been made by Lawley and Overdale Parish Council and a couple of residents.

Councillor Kevin Guy, speaking during the meeting, said: "The number of houses has been reduced by 12 and the new plans also include bungalows on the site, which are like gold dust. This is all social housing that is needed."
