She died in an ambulance on the way to hospital after the collision in the Frankwell car park in the town at about 7.15pm on Saturday.

Police believe she lived in the Harlescott area of town and say the family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.

The coroner has been informed of her death but a date has not yet been set for the opening of her inquest.

The driver of the car involved, a silver Hyundai i10, was a 90-year-old man who was unhurt.

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses to call 101.
