Couple with child in pushchair robbed at knifepoint in Telford underpass

A couple with a young child were robbed at knifepoint as they walked through a underpass in Telford.

The incident happened on Friday, March 27, at around 2.40pm, as the couple walked through the subway between Parkway and Mound Way in Madeley.

They were approached by two men, walking from the direction of Woodside, who asked for a lighter.

When the 23-year-old-woman went to hand them her lighter, one of the men brandished a knife while the other man grabbed a bag from the top of her son's pushchair.

Both of the men then ran in the direction of Woodside. Nobody was injured during the incident.

The stolen bag is red colour and "leather-look", with silver buckles. It contained around £200.

The first robber is described as 20 to 25 years old, mixed race, of a stocky build with a round face. He was wearing a black Adidas tracksuit with a light blue beanie hat that had a red Nike symbol on it.

The second robber was white, 17 to 20 years old and approximately 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing blue jeans and blue Nike Air trainers.

Anyone with information or who saw two men of these descriptions in the area at the time, is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 386S of Friday March 27.
