Inquest told of traveller's death on busy road near Telford

The inquest into a traveller who died after being hit by a car while walking along the side of a busy Shropshire road has been opened and adjourned.

Felix Rooney died on March 17, the day after his birthday, on the A442 at Sutton Maddock, near Telford.

Mr Rooney, 33, of Banks, Southport, was a traveller and at the time of the accident was staying in a caravan in a lay-by off the A442 between Telford and Bridgnorth with other family members.

He was a single man and a ground worker and was born in Nottingham.

Mr John Ellery, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin coroner, adjourned the hearing to June 30.
