Organisers launched this year's event by revealing that the event will feature a Victory Village.

It will recreate the atmosphere of street parties that were held throughout Britain when the end of the Second World War was announced.

There will be live music from the time, as well veterans on hand to talk to visitors about their experiences.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will also feature at the show, bringing the majesty of a Lancaster Bomber to the skies above Shropshire.

Wing Commander Kevin Rayner, who is the show's chairman, said: "As well as the inspiring displays in the air we will have a huge assortment of interactive ground displays for visitors to enjoy inside the hangars and across the showground.

"This year we really want to celebrate the 70th anniversary of VE Day and we are all excited about the Victory Village at the show.

"Visitors will feel like they are back in 1945 when the war was won."

"The show gives the public a rare chance to come and see what goes on behind the scenes at the base here at Cosford.

"They are also given the opportunity to interact with our trainees, who will be helping out on the day, and find out about what we do here."

The Eurofighter Typhoon will be among the modern aircraft at the show, as well as the return of the RAF's world-famous air display team, the Red Arrows.

The RAF Falcons parachute display teams will also be dropping in to the show on June 14.

Group Captain Adam Sansom, said: "This year's air show will be a fantastic day out for everyone.

"We have a range of aircraft taking part in the air show as well some on the ground for display.

"I am very proud of the team here at Cosford as they have worked very hard to make the show what it is and they should be very proud of themselves.

"On the day we will have our trainees manning the gates and helping around the grounds, so the public will be given the opportunity to talk to them."

People who attend the show regularly will notice an increased number of static aircraft display, and subtle changes to the layout, this is due to the growing number of visitors each year.

Peter Reoch, part of the operations team, said: "We are working hard to get a really electric mix of aircraft into RAF Cosford for the show this year.

"We're expanding our award winning ground displays to give visitors the chance to interact with a variety of modern and historic aircraft."

One of the big changes for this year's event is for it to become an advanced ticket only event.

Clive Elliot, the shows director, said: "In order to speed up entry and shorten queues there will be no tickets available on the gate this year.

"The change puts us in line with many other large public events and means we know how many visitors are coming and can deal with traffic and parking more effectively."

Organisers have again teamed up with Arriva Trains Wales, London Midland and for the first time since the launch of the service Virgin Trains.

The companies will be offering an increased rail service on Sunday, 14 June with combined rail and entry to the show on sale at a discounted price of £18.

Tickets are already on sale online and in a number of outlets for £22 per adult, with the show offering free entry to accompanied under-16s.
