Fire crews tackle blaze near Shrewsbury

Four fire crews have been tackling a fire in the open at Snailbeach, Stiperstones, near Shrewsbury this morning.

Crews from Bishops Castle, Church Stretton and Minsterley and an Incident Support Unit and the Pinzgauer were sent to the scene shortly after 9am this morning to help tackle the fire in then open.

The fire service say it was a deep seated fire and that firefighters used knapsack and shovels to put out the blaze, and then dampened down.

The cause has not yet been established and there are no reports of any injuries and the scene was cleared shortly after 12pm.

This follows a gorse fire yesterday evening, also in Snailbeach.
