Simon Crofts, from Loggerheads, near Market Drayton, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in September 2009.

The 37-year-old said: "My mum had cancer before and my granddad died from it so I kind of saw it coming. It wasn't a massive shock when I was told.

"My GP and the NHS were fantastic and I had an emergency two-week referral.

"After I recovered I started to focus on getting fit and healthy."

I decided to enter the Sutton Fun Run and I was feeling really fit.

"The company I work for, Big Button, which is a production company in Birmingham, always enter a group in it every year.

"I then did the Birmingham half marathon in October and the Stafford half marathon."

And now Mr Crofts is training for the biggest challenge yet – the London Marathon on April 26.

Mr Croft will be running the marathon in aid of Phab, a charity promoting and encouraging disabled and non-disabled children and adults to take part in a wide range of social and sports activities and to achieve inclusion within society as a whole.

"I wanted to support a smaller group and hope to raise about £2,000 for them," he said.
