The crash happened in Trefonen Road, Oswestry, at about noon yesterday.

Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midland Ambulance Service, said: "We were called to reports of a car collided with a bridge. There was one patient, a man in his 90s, who was out of the car on our arrival.

"He had minor injuries and was discharged on the scene."

Fire crews were sent out from Oswestry and Wellington after initial reports suggested the man was trapped in his car, but he managed to get out without needing help. The fire crews gave first aid to the man before the ambulance arrived.
