Police appeal for witnesses to serious Mid Wales crash

Police in Mid Wales have made a fresh appeal for witnesses after a woman had to be cut free from her car following a crash in Newtown.

The woman suffered serious injuries and is still in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital receiving treatment following the crash on the A489.

Katy Simmons, Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman, said: "Police in Newtown are investigating a serious injury road traffic collision on the A489 Newtown to Penstrowed road outside the Powys Leisure car wash premises.

"It occurred at approximately 11.15am on Monday and involved a LandRover Defender and a Vauxhall Astra.

"The female driver of the Astra sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."

Anyone who witnessed the crash should call 101.
