Two men cut from car after crash on the A49 near Shrewsbury

There were delays on the A49 this afternoon after a two car crash on the road at Dorrington, near Shrewsbury, where two men had to be cut free.

Four fire engines from Church Stretton, Shrewsbury and Wellington were all on the scene as well as police and the ambulance service.

The fire service said firefighters cut two men free from one of the cars using cutting equipment.

One of the drivers, a man in his 80s suffered back and arm injuries and was taken by ambulance to the North Staffordshire University Hospital in Stoke. The other man was treated for injuries at the scene.

The A49 was closed and traffic was diverted via Much Wenlock.
