Man denies driving charges after an elderly couple were knocked of their bikes in Shropshire

A man has denied criminal charges relating to a car accident in which an elderly couple were knocked off their tandem bike and left injured at the side of the A49 near Ludlow.

James Thompson, 26, of Peckforton Hall Lane, Spurstow in Cheshire pleaded not guilty to charges of driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report an accident.

A couple in their 70s were taken to Shrewsbury Royal hospital for treatment following the incident which happened at Onibury on July 2, 2014.

The trial will take place at Telford Magistrates Court on May 1 and Thompson was released on unconditional bail.
