Alarm over 'burning smell' alarm at Ludlow chemists

Customers at a high street chemists were astonished when fire crews arrived to scour the shop after staff smelled burning.

Two crews were called to Lloyds Pharmacy in Upper Galdeford, Ludlow, at about 11am yesterday, but no fire was found and the source of the smell remains a mystery.

Crew manager James Bond said: "We checked the ground floor and the flats above. We used a thermal imaging camera, but didn't find anything."

Customer Jean Gray said: "I was astonished to turn up and find fire engines outside. I'm glad it was nothing serious."
