Teenager sexually assaulted in Shrewsbury car park

A teenager was dragged into a car park from a taxi rank  in Shrewsbury over the weekend and sexually assaulted.

The incident happened at around 3.15am on Sunday, January 18 in a car park between Comet Cars and the Rock and Fountain pub.

The victim, a 19-year-old woman, was approached by a man near to the taxi rank when he grabbed her by the wrist and lead her into the car park. He then went on to sexually assault her.

He is described as being white, around 5 ft 8in to 6 ft tall, of a slim build and between 25 and 35 years of age. He had short black hair, a foreign accent and was wearing a dark smart jacket and blue jeans.

DC Heidi Bate, the investigating officer, said: "We are taking this offence very seriously and are eager to trace the man responsible for this awful attack on a vulnerable young woman.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have information to share with police."
