The owner of the gramophone called firefighters after smoke started to come from the machine at about 9.15pm last night at the Oswestry Town Museum.

Two fire appliances were sent out to Bailey Head, in the centre of Oswestry, and crews wearing breathing apparatus used a dry powder extinguisher and hosereel jet to put out the fire.

Oswestry Town Council said there was no damage caused to the building.
