The damage included deep key scratches to body work and windows and smashed and broken wing mirrors.

The vandals struck in three streets in Sutton Hill and the damage cars included a mobility car – a Nissan Note – which was left with deep scratches down to the metal and broken wing mirror.

The car's owner is unable to walk, and today his wife hit out at the vandals.

She said it had cost them £75 to put right the damage – which followed a similar vandal attack in August.

She said: "I was really, really angry. It is not even my car, it is mobility for my husband who cannot walk. Someone is getting a kick out of this but we are not."

"I do not know what is going on around here - it could be the same person."

Nissan Note in Selbourne

Police said the vandalism in Selbourne, Shawfield Close and Stonedale took place overnight on Sunday.

Selbourne mother Sharon Walker, 39, whose Peugeot's wing mirrors had been broken, said: "It has never happened to my car here before. The mirrors were smashed and had been put right back.

"I have just been to the garage for them to have a look at it and I have had to order new ones so it has cost me about £28.

"I was talking to my neighbour about it to see if she had seen something but they had not seen anything. It has got me worried about leaving the car out here. "

Ann Jones, in an email to the Shropshire Star, said she had gone to get her car on Selbourne at 8am on Monday to see scratches on bonnet and on all sides down to bare metal and both wing mirror smashed and their units smashed and hanging off.

She added: "This person/people who is doing this should be birched and if they are underage their parents should be prosecuted and made to pay compensation.

"Times are hard enough as it is without mindless sickening vandalism being carried out. Without a car we cannot go to work and in emergency situations we would be stuck. Someone must know the mindless morons who are carrying these acts of vandalism out and getting away with it .

"Why aren't there any CCTV cameras put up. The halogen lighting is so dull as well."

Abigail Hartley, West Mercia Police spokeswoman, said: "We are urging anyone with information or who witnessed these offences to come forward. We are looking into whether they are linked to a similar vandalism spree last year."

Anyone with information about the incidents should call 101.
