Jacob Brown, 22, who travelled from Manchester to Shrewsbury to deal drugs, was arrested in Shrewsbury more than a year ago.

At Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday Recorder Gareth Evans said he was satisfied that Brown had played a "significant" role in street dealing in the town.

Brown, of Southdown Crescent, Manchester, was also ordered to forfeit £5,600 in cash recovered by police.

He had pleaded guilty to four offences of possession of drugs in December 2013, with intent to supply, involving heroin, Testosterone Enanthate and Testosterone Propionate, both steroids, and Buprenorphine, a pain killer.

Mr Gerard Quirke, prosecuting, had claimed Brown had a leading role in the organised buying and selling of drugs which provided substantial financial gain.

He said that a "dealers list" was discovered by police showing sales for a seven day period amounting to £4,000.

Mr Richard Davenport, for Brown, said his client had not played a leading role as he had not been under the direction of others and, albeit was very successful, he was simply a street dealer.

He said that Brown had worked for an internet services business and had been reticent in talking about how he got involved in the drugs trade.

The defendant had appeared at the crown court last week when his case had been adjourned until Monday, but he failed to attend and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He is understood to have spent the weekend in France and was picked up by police when he arrived back at Manchester Airport.
