But the trio – two men aged 39 and 32 and a 31-year-old woman – have been rearrested by police on suspicion of obstructing the coroner in relation to the discovery of the body at a side entrance at Harlescott Junior School in Shrewsbury. Police have been given an extra 36 hours to question the three.

It comes after a post mortem carried out on the woman's body did not confirm a cause of death.

The school on Featherbed Lane will reopen on Wednesday following the completion of a forensic examination of the site by police.

The body of the woman, who is believed to be in her early 20s, was discovered by a police officer at just before midnight on Sunday. Her next of kin has been informed but her name will not be released by police until a formal identification has been made.

Detective Inspector Mark Bellamy of West Mercia Police, who is leading the inquiry, said: "We have finished our examination of the site and pupils will be able to return to the school. I'd like to thank staff and pupils at the school for their understanding and support over the last couple of days.

"We have also been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area and there are high visibility police patrols to provide reassurance to local people. Officers are also providing support to the family of the deceased."

Forensic teams examined a bungalow in Craig Close, which backs on to the school, on Tuesday.
