The plans for 28 homes on la site south of Hermitage Farm in Hadnall have been granted outline permission by planning officers at Shropshire Council.

It comes despite several villagers objecting to the propoals.

Hadnall Parish Council also objected to the application due to a number of reasons including concerns over flood management.

Rosemarie Duxbury, acting parish clerk, said: "Other concerns are the school is oversubscribed and therefore a development of 28 family houses is not sustainable by the village school.

"The proposed development makes no provision for recreation space.

"All other recreational space is on the other side of the A49 main road and therefore not appropriate for small children to access alone."

In a report planners said: "In landscape terms the proposed housing can be seen as a natural and reasonable infill of the northern and southern areas of the village. Hadnall is a sizeable and sustainable village with a good range of services enjoying good public transport links to nearby large towns."
