Woman who died after Maesbury collision named

A woman who died when her car crashed into a brick wall on a country road has been named locally as Sherylene Norris.

Ms Norris, 42, died at the scene of the crash on a sharp bend at Woolston Bank, near Maesbury.

Flowers have been placed next to the wall as tribute to Ms Norris, who was a self employed hairdresser and is believed to have lived just a short distance from the corner.

An inquest is due to be opened on January 8 by Shropshire coroner John Ellery at Shrewsbury's Shirehall.

Ms Norris grew up in the area having been a former pupil of Welshpool High School, and had previously worked at the Black Horse pub in Maesbury.

Friends have paid tribute to Ms Norris through social media.

Caroline Watts wrote: "I am stunned to hear this sad news. You were one of my best friends when I was growing up and I will always have wonderful memories of the fun we had together. RIP my dear dear friend. You will be missed x."

Vicky Groves said: "Such sad news x"

And Sue Cambridge said: "So so sad x."

The crash happened shortly after 4pm on Thursday and police have asked for any witnesses to call 101 quoting incident 437 of December 18.
