The repairs will take place in Clee Hill and Doddington.

Dave Kiernan, Severn Trent Water programme engineer, said: "We want to make sure our customers continue to receive a reliable water supply. Unfortunately, the water pipes in parts of Shropshire are now a bit old and have started to leak, which could lead to interruptions in the water supply.

"To help stop this from happening in the future, we're investing £100,000 to install around a kilometre of new water pipes in the area."

He said contract partner Amey is going to start work on the A4117 close to the Severn Trent Water Coreley Reservoir site on February 9.

Traffic lights will be in place.

"While we're crossing the A4117 we'll also be installing new pipes down the road towards Hints, finishing at the junction with Meadow Bank," he said. "It's a narrow road so to keep both the local community and our workforce safe, we'll need to close the road to traffic.

"We know this is likely to cause issues and we're working closely with the local community to try to minimise any impact. We'd like to apologise to anyone who will be affected by this work and to ask for their patience. We won't be there for long, but this work will help us to keep the water running for our customers for years to come."

A drop-in session has been arranged by Severn Trent Water, where residents can look at the plans and have their say, on Monday at Coreley Memorial Hall, Hints, between 4 and 7pm.
