Goat us outta here! Real life chicken run at primary school

You might think three chickens sitting on a goat is funny, but these fowls are deadly serious.

The cunning fowls are carrying out their own Chicken Run – and it's not the first time they've tried to escape their enclosure at Hugo Meynell Primary School in Loggerheads, near Market Drayton.

Headteacher Steve Mitchell said: "They wait for the goats to lie down, and then they jump on their backs and wait for them to walk near the fence before hopping over."

The chickens, which can't fly, get over the fence again and again, but are always caught and put back in by teachers and parents.

"It does get quite frustrating," said Mr Mitchell. "But it is brilliant, and it is so funny to watch them."

And who are these criminal masterminds?

At the back is Pom Pom, known for his ruffles, and in the middle is cockerel Graham, known for being the mischief maker. Riding shotgun at the front is one of their close allies, whose name seems to be debated around the school.

"And the goat is Mitch," said Mr Mitchell.

"I bought the goats as a present for the school when I moved here from my old school and they ended up being named after me, Steve and Mitch."
