West Midlands Search and Rescue teams will be assisting West Mercia Police further over the coming days using boats to search river banks and scour the surface of the water for clues.

Specialist underwater teams from Nottingham Police and Dyfed-Powys Police may be called back to search another part of the river next week.

Hundreds of volunteers have been out looking for Daniel, from Madeley, Telford, since he failed to return from a night out with friends in Shrewsbury town centre on Saturday, November 22. Posters and flyers have been spread out across the town.

Daniel left the Buttermarket nightclub in Howard Street at about 3.30am on Sunday, November 23 and was then seen on CCTV in nearby Dorset Street at 5.30am when he spoke to his mother around the same time.

His grey iPhone 6 has not been found and police believe it could hold clues.

Chief Inspector Tom Harding said: "I would like to thank the hundreds of volunteers who continue to help us with our investigation.

We are now widening out the search along the River Severn where officers and dog handlers will continue.

"We are growing increasingly concerned for Daniel as it approaches the two-week anniversary of his disappearance.

"We believe that he left the Buttermarket nightclub at approximately 3.30am on Sunday, November 23 and was then on CCTV in Dorset Street at 5.30am. Anyone who uses the path along the river and Sydney Avenue at this time in the morning we would urge you to think back and if you can recall seeing Daniel or anything suspicious then please get in touch."
