Man charged over death of cyclist found at side of A49 in Shropshire

A 39-year-old man was today charged with causing the death of a cyclist found at the side of the A49 in Shropshire.

The body of 61-year-old , Michael Saunders, from Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury, was found at the side of the A49 between Leebotwood and Dorrington in the early hours of Monday, June 23.

Today Mark Anthony Baker, 39, of Clarence Street, Mountain Ash, Mid Glamorgan, was charged with causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving, failure to stop after a road accident and failure to report a road accident in connection to the incident.

He has been bailed to appear at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court on December 23.

Police said Mr Saunders' family have been informed.
