In Sussex and Surrey police will tweet about people stopped on suspicion of drink or drug-driving as part of a campaign to cut the number of rogue motorists in the run-up to Christmas.

Throughout December, Sussex and Surrey officers will disclose details on Twitter, including when and where motorists were pulled over for the alleged offences.

Both West Mercia Police and Dyfed-Powys Police have also launched their Christmas drink driving campaigns.

Officers from both forces will be carrying out random breath tests on drivers throughout the day on roads across both counties.

West Midlands Police is using a new drug testing kit for the first time this year and will again be naming and shaming those charged with driving under the influence.

Meanwhile, Staffordshire Police has released this hard-hitting video of a drink driver who was left with horrific injuries after crashing his car.

It tells the story of Harrison King, who after a night out, drove at speed through the centre of Uttoxeter – a ride which ended with his Ford Fiesta crashing into a house and railings, from which a metal pole crashed through his windscreen.

A severe wound to the side of his head was one of his injuries, requiring him to be put into an induced coma.
