The homes will be built next to The Knoll at Church Aston, near Newport, despite fears from residents that it could overload services in the area.

Outline plans were approved at a meeting of Telford & Wrekin Council's planning committee last night.

It comes two months after plans for 26 homes on three acres of greenfield land next to The Barns in the village were also approved.

Meanwhile, a £2.5 million revamp to the centre of Hollinswood in Telford was unanimously approved by councillors at the meeting.

The scheme includes demolishing the Woodcutter pub and knocking down and replacing a number of existing shops and flats with a new supermarket.
