Members of Shrewsbury Town Council's planning committee agreed to support the plans for the development on land behind Stadco at Battlefield, Shrewsbury.

A decision on whether the plans become reality will be made at a future meeting of Shropshire Council's central planning committee.

If approved, one building of more than 4,000 square metres would be created and split into five units. Travis Perkins, City Plumbing Supplies, and Benchmarx, which all trade under Travis Perkins (Properties) Limited, will fill three of the units.

Councillor Peter Nutting, speaking at last night's meeting, said: "I don't see how we could have a problem up there for this sort of thing.

"It is just going to be same thing as all the other stuff up there - it's in the right place."
