Inquest opens on Shropshire A49 lorry victim, 91

An inquest has opened into the death of a pensioner who was hit by a lorry at a busy crossroads on the A49 in Shropshire.

Ilse Forster, 91, of Stanford Avenue in Church Stretton was knocked down at traffic lights in the town last week.

Her family has been informed and has requested privacy at this time.

A post-mortem examination was carried out last Tuesday.

The collision happened on November 17 on the northbound carriageway heading towards Shrewsbury at the junction with Sandford Avenue at about 7am. It involved a Iveco heavy goods vehicle which had a trailer on the rear containing steelwork.

Mrs Forster, who was a widow, was treated at the scene but ambulance, air ambulance and paramedic crews were unable to revive her. Sh was pronounced dead at the scene at about 7.40am.

John Ellery, coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, opened the inquest into her death at Telford Register Office yesterday. It has been adjourned until Thursday, February 26.
