The video, the first produced by business leaders in the town, was projected on to the back of Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery as part of the Christmas Cracker and festive lights switch-on event.

Officials at Shrewsbury Business Improvement District, who are behind the video, say they hope it will entice more shoppers to the town centre and are aiming to build on the success of the Summer in Shrewsbury video, which attracted more than 26,000 views.

The film features Emily Hurdiss as she shops in the snowy streets of Shrewsbury and enjoys a series of encounters with a handsome young man.

With the strap line "Let Your Christmas Story Start Here", the film invites viewers to share Emily's Christmas story while showing a selection of town centre shopping and leisure businesses.

The two-minute film has been directed by local filmographer, Aaron Child, and features Emily Hurdiss and James Mitchell, who having both grown up in Shrewsbury, are now pursuing acting careers in London.

The soundtrack comes from Gareth Rhys Jones, winner of Shrewsbury BID's competition to create music for the video. Gareth is releasing the song on December 1 which will be available to download on iTunes, Amazon as well as other online retailers.

Footage from the film was beamed on to the museum and art gallery on Wednesday night as part of a lighting display put on by Andy McKeown.

The video can also be found on the Original Shrewsbury Facebook page, @OriginalShrews on Twitter and on the Original Shrewsbury YouTube channel.
