Mark Bridger, who was sentenced to a whole life term for April's abduction and murder, is believed to have dismembered the youngster's body at the rented house in mid Wales.

The cottage in Ceinws has been bought by the Welsh Government which promised to knock it to the ground in line with the wishes of April's parents Coral and Paul.

Two years have passed since the former lifeguard snatched the five-year-old from outside her home in Machynlleth, mid Wales.

April's body has never been found and during his trial Bridger refused to say what he did with her remains.

The parents of murdered schoolgirl April Jones, Paul and Coral with siblings Harley and Jazmin, and a unidentified male, approach the site of the former home of murderer Mark Bridger at Mount Pleasant Cottage in Ceinws, Wales, as it is being demolished

Local councillor Michael Williams said the house served as a painful reminder to everyone in the area.

"People are most appreciative of the Welsh government carrying out that which they'd promised," he added.

"Everyone in the Machynlleth area will be relieved.

"It'll especially be a huge relief for (April's parents) Coral and Paul and the rest of April Jones's family and the people living in the village of Ceinws who have to pass that property all the time, bringing back the memories of, as we're given to understand, the evil acts that took place there.

"It is the house of evil and the sooner it disappears, the better."
