Major roadworks which have caused hold-ups at a roundabout on the outskirts of Oswestry will be finished before Christmas, highways chiefs have said.

Improvement work at the Mile End roundabout is nearing completion, says the Highways Agency.

The work should bring to an end months of night-time closures on the roads that lead off the junction, including two trunk roads, the A5 and the A483.

General roadworks continue until November 17 when once again there will be traffic light control and road closures to finish resurfacing and the installation of signs.

Boundary fences will also be built and planting done if the weather permits.

From December 8 to 12 there will be white lining and road studs put in, with the removal of the roadworks compound between December 15 to 19.

The work to the Mile End roundabout is part of the Government's "pinch point" improvement work on trunk roads across the UK. A new road has been incorporated to give access to a new business park planned for the town.
