Mr Vickers' family today shared their memories of his love of all kinds of vehicles and his hard working character.

His father Norman, who lives in Oswestry, said: "He was a hard worker, loved his engines and working with cars and bikes. "He got on with everyone. He'd walk into a room a stranger and walk out a friend. Never seemed to fall out with anyone.

"He was a perfect son. We never argued, never fell out."

Mr Vickers studied joinery at college in Nantwich and then in Shrewsbury.

After leaving college he ran his own carpentry and joinery business, and last week had started work as a sub-contractor for Shropshire Homes.

"The last month he'd been down to my workshop practically every day because he was only doing a few jobs a week," his father said.

"He was coming down to work on his bike or just for a chat. He did motocross every Saturday and Sunday and so he'd be working on his bike."

His brother Kirk said it wasn't unusual to find Mr Vickers tinkering with something.

"You'd never catch him sitting down. He was always doing something," he said.

Mr Madden's family also paid tribute to their son, making reference to his love of motorcycling.

They said: "To our dearest son and brother Philip. You are riding high in the sky on your dream R1 together with your mate Shane. We will be thinking of you all the time casting your line further into peaceful waters – tight lines.Your heartbroken and loving parents and brother."

His brother Anthony also paid tribute on Facebook, calling Philip "the kindest, most loyal brother anyone could wish for".

Mr Madden and Mr Vickers were killed on the evening of October 30 on Ellesmere Road, Bronington. The pair were driving to Penley in a Vauxhall Corsa when the car hit a tree just before 11pm.

An inquest is due to be opened next week.

An investigation is taking place into the crash. Police have asked for anyone who was in the area at the time, and may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it, to contact the Roads Policing Unit at Deeside on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, and quote reference R171477.
